Health care advocates will host a visibility and action to call on Governor Chris Sununu to stand up to the GOP health care plan that will take away healthy futures from millions of Americans, including those with pre-existing conditions or in substance abuse treatment

PORTSMOUTH, NH – Constituents will host a health care visibility and action on Wednesday, May 24th at 5:30 PM in front of 3S Artspace in Portsmouth in advance of Governor Chris Sununu’s scheduled remarks at the 10 to Watch awards night. The awards ceremony celebrates young professionals who have made positive contributions to local, social, and economic development; advocates will ask event attendees to help call on Governor Sununu to demonstrate his dedication to, and investment in, the young people of our state by standing up to the GOP health care plan that will take away health care from thousands of Granite Staters, including those with pre-existing conditions or seeking substance abuse treatment.

Governor Sununu celebrated the passage of Trumpcare 2.0, which takes health care away from 24 million Americans, slashes Medicaid, sends premiums through the roof, and puts people with pre-existing conditions back at the mercy of the private insurance companies. It promotes barebones coverage, even weakening protections for people who get health insurance through their employers. All to give huge tax breaks to the wealthy and to maximize profits for drug and insurance corporations. Governor Sununu is putting at risk coverage for 118,000 Granite Staters, including 52,700 people now covered under the ACA Medicaid expansion, and 597,100 Granite Staters with pre-existing conditions. Governor Sununu is interested in Band-Aid political acts rather than real health reforms.

For the past two weeks, Governor Sununu has refused repeated requests to meet with concerned constituents regarding his position on health care. We are renewing our call for this meeting and look forward to his response.
