![]() New Hampshire Health Care for America Now Coalition to Rally Outside President Obama’s Town HallFor Immediate Release Contact: Zandra Rice Hawkins Portsmouth, NH — Tomorrow, NH Health Care for America Now and its allies will rally outside of President Obama’s Health Care Town Hall in New Hampshire in support of comprehensive health care reform. For the past year, NH HCAN has led the way in grassroots mobilization to support fixing America’s broken health care system. House parties, community meetings, neighborhood canvasses and frequent phonebanks have characterized the strong movement for health care reform in New Hampshire. “In 2009, we will either have a guarantee of quality, affordable health care we all can count on or we will continue to be at the mercy of the private health insurance industry that is charging us more, giving us less and putting company profits before our health,” said Sarah Chaisson Warner, state coordinator for HCAN and NH Citizens Alliance for Action executive director. “Here in New Hampshire and in communities all across the country, we’re asking one question, ‘Which side are you on?’ Are you on the side of quality, affordable health care for all? Or are you on the side of being left alone to fend for yourself in a complicated, bureaucratic insurance market? The resounding answer has been that New Hampshire is ready for the change that President Obama is bringing to the health care debate.” While NH HCAN members have been active for over a year – and supported by grassroots organizations in New Hampshire with significantly deeper histories – opponents of health care reform continue to protest reform efforts without providing any real organizing or reform plans themselves. “As a candidate, Barack Obama heard from working families in New Hampshire about the need for health care reform,” said Zandra Rice Hawkins, director of Granite State Progress. “As President, he has made health care reform a priority and no amount of right-wing rhetoric or staged teabagger activities will overcome the real life stories he heard then and now. America’s health care system is broken and President Obama is going to fix it.” WHAT: Rally Outside President Obama’s Health Care Town Hall TO SCHEDULE MEDIA AVAILABILITY DURING THE RALLY WITH SARAH CHAISSON WARNER (NH HCAN COORDINATOR); SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS; HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS OR OTHERS, CONTACT ZANDRA RICE HAWKINS AT (603) 892-2150.
