State Employee Association leaders have been meeting with Governor Lynch since last fall, attempting to engage in productive conversations that would avert the loss of public services similar to those seen in other states.

In December, SEA entered into contract negotiations for a new agreement that would go into effect on July 1. The SEA negotiates a contract that covers over 90% of the State’s 12,000 workers. In February, the Governor proposed harsh reductions in the State budget and the House followed with even more damaging reductions. These proposals have impeded the important progress that is needed in negotiations.

The SEA has maintained that there are innovative solutions to a large portion of the State’s fiscal crisis and we have asked to sit down with the Governor and Legislative leaders. We want the State to put all of its cards on the table so that we can work together to help save the State millions of dollars.

Time is running out. We want to engage in productive, cost-saving talks with the State’s leaders. Our goal is broader than contract negotiations. Public services are threatened and in danger when they are needed now more than ever.

Join us to learn more about our bold proposals to save funding in this budget crisis.
